attendance

  • The school gates open at 8.40am to allow children to say goodbye to their adult and walk through to their classrooms. Children need to be in their classes by 8.50 when registers are taken. Children arriving after this point are marked as late (L) at the school gate and make their lunch choices there.

  • Children arriving after 9am go into school via the school office and will be marked as late (L).

  • Children arriving after 9.15 are given an unauthorised mark (U) for the morning session.

Sickness

If your child is unwell and unable to come to school please make the school aware as soon as possible. If the school is not made aware they will be marked as an unauthorised absence.

Request For Absence

Please be aware that we are unable to authorise any holiday. Absence can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances. If you wish to take your child out of school please go to the office and fill in a Request For Absence form.

Research shows that good school attendance impacts upon children’s success in learning. Good attendance helps children to achieve good results, helps them to fulfil their potential and gives them a chance of a better future.   Read more...

New attendance guidance

Following the final judgement on the Isle of Wight ruling, Kent Schools are not authorising any term time absences unless there are exceptional circumstances, with the exception of authorised illness.

If your child accumulates 5 days/10 sessions of Unauthorised Absence (in 100 sessions or 50 school days), a penalty will be requested with KCC. A penalty of £60 per parent, per child, if paid within 21 days or £120 per parent, per child, if paid within 28 days is applicable.

Parents of pupils with special educational needs (SEN) follow the same admission arrangements as for our non SEN pupils, with the exception of parents of pupils with an Education Health Care Plan whose admission is managed by the Local Authority.

For any enquiries please contact the office and ask to speak to Louise Laker (Admissions) or Danielle Britton (Attendance).

In-Year Admissions

If you live in Kent and your child is already with a school currently, and you wish to apply for a place at Ashford Oaks in your child’s current year group, you should complete the form below (in-year admission form) and send to us.  Please complete a separate form for each child.
