computing & ict
At Ashford Oaks, computing is based on the 2014 National Curriculum and is supported by a scheme of work that links a range of teaching resources. The use of Computing is an integral part of the National Curriculum and is a key skill for every-day life. We recognise that pupils are entitled to quality hardware and software and an enjoyable, structured progressive approach to the learning of the skills and knowledge needed to enable them to become proficient in computing. Computers, laptops, Chromebooks, programmable robots, digital and video cameras are just some of the tools that can be used to access, organise, store, manipulate, interpret, communicate and present information.
Computing is taught throughout all terms with online safety re-visited regularly and through a variety of other lessons as appropriate.
The school uses ‘Purple Mash’ to support the delivery of the scheme of work alongside other resources within the Google for Education collection of learning tools. (For example: Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Forms.) Online safety teaching follows the objectives from ‘Education for a Connected World’ government guidance and teachers make use of a wide range of resources to support delivery of this.
